A refreshingly realistic take on the disreputable bachelor stereotype

A surprising number of anime shows deal with the stereotype of the otaku male as child molester.

Some stereotyping is just insulting, but fears of child molesters inspire witch hunts.

The mere accusation is enough to push a marginalized male from the “bachelor” category to the “unemployable underclass” category. Even if you’re accused and found innocent, people never really believe you’re innocent.

This kind of thing used to be called “defamation,” but nowadays, normal people have no chance of winning a legal victory to offset their reputational loss.

And thus it is refreshing to see a show in which the lonely, lecherous bachelor is leering at a 40-year-old mother instead of at her 9-year-old daughter.
