They say that you should write what you know, and the people who write Shirobako know the real-life drama of trying to keep a mass media project on track despite emergencies and delays.

It’s kind of nice to see a show about real-life grown-ups with serious problems that preclude the escapist romantic silliness of showings like Servant X Service.

In a workplace fantasy, the work isn’t terribly urgent, but the romantic problems are.

In a serious workplace show, the pressures of the work are the entire show.
