Life is too short to watch anime that depends on harem-esque fan service.
Let’s make a list of some of the shows that slouched into harem:
daitoshokan no hitsujikai
inou battle wa nichijou-kei no naka de
trinity seven
madan no ou to vanadis
grisaia no kajitsu
Let’s compare that to some fan-service heavy shows that avoided harems:
amagi brilliant park
Denki gai no Honya San
hitsugi no chaika – avenging battle
Amagi looked like it would be a harem, but those turned out to be rivals for the main girl. Denki managed to do an ensemble cast with fairly realistic love stories. Hitsugi no chaika had an awful lot of pretty girls, but avoided predictable harem nonsense.
Amagi was pretty darn good, but I was in danger of dumping it when it looked like they were going to do a harem. I probably need to spend less time on anime anyway. Dumping harem shows is just a beginning.
I can agree on Madan. Though I knew from the start it would be harem-y, I stuck with it mainly because it was interesting to me.
Up next is KanColle, and I’m gonna be interested in how they make a plot for a game that was originally just a niche-genre online card game.

I am probably not going to start KanColle.
From Wikipedia:
I’ll use the time to work on my backlog. I still haven’t seen Legend of Galactic Heroes, for example.

Its understandable. From the jist of things I learned from the KanColle thread in th World of Warships forums, it was highly niche kind of game and pandering to Japan’s nationalists. The unexpected popularity, even amongst foreigners, kinda threw this proposed story-mode out the window.
I’ll be watching it because I’ve already had a one-year long investment into the game and now really taking it seriously. Not playing it casually like I once did.
As for LOGH. LOGH to me was one of the series I can put as ‘perfect’. I’d suggest watching them in the story/plot order, rather than the release date.

The chronological order makes it look pretty daunting:

Those Who Duel / Duelist (SS / G2, ep. 19-22)
Golden Wings
Those Who Recapture / Survivors (SS / G2, ep. 23-26)
Morning’s Dream, Night’s Song (SS / G1, ep. 5-8)
A Hundred Billion Stars, A Hundred Billion Lights (SS / G1, ep. 13-24)
The Third Tiamat Battle (SS / G2, ep. 27-28)

It does. Though nothing wrong with just watching the main series first and going back, like I did. Main series at least can be watched on its own, the others add background.
